area with 30 other cities across the u.s. on this one year anniversary of the occupy movement. in new york city where it started on september 17th, 2011. protesters are gathering in zuccotti park with plans to march near the new york stock exchange. saturday 300 marched, at least a dozen arrests, but no major problems. last year the mayor ordered police to evict protesters from the plaza. >> occupy protesters have several demonstrations planned today to mark the anniversary of the start of the movement. amy hollyfield is in the financial district with what we can expect there. >> reporter: we've got a group already occupying now. it is a small group, they've camped out overnight to start making their statement. they say don't let their size fool you. they believe the movement is still going strong. it is a far cry interest the crowds we saw at the beginning of the occupy movement. we have video to show you. especially, in oakland and san francisco the protesters were very enthusiastic then in their crusade. there were some clashes with police. there was disagreement over whether it is
who is in the hospital and very critical condition is a young woman this her 20s. the woman who was killed was her mother-in-law, here visiting her son and his new wife. they got married over the summer now the young wife is here in the hospital. police say, the driver who hit them is 53-year-old man, he has been arrested for vehicular manslaughter. police say it is too early to know if he was speeding, on drugs or had been drinking. witnesses describe it as a horrific scene. the two women were walking with two men on the sidewalk, when the pick-up hit them. witnesses say 52-year-old sherry hicks landed 80 feet away, she died instantly. the younger woman hicks' daughter-in-law, was taken to the hospital described as being in her 20s. now this young man dealing with the death of his mother while at the bedside of his new wife. terrible tram did. one that witnesses say -- terrible tragedy, one that witnesses say they will never forget. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >>> a father and son have quite a story to tell about their weekend on a flight along the central coast they were forced

overseas. u.s. ambassador to libya was killed in overnight attacks in the mideast. he had deep bay area ties. katie marzullo is live with the latest. >> reporter: there are protests right now in egypt. it was the earlier violence in libya that killed a u.s. ambassador with bay area ties. ambassador chris stevens was born and raised in northern california he graduated from uc berkeley in 1982 and hastings college of law in 1989 he had just become ambassador in libya in may of this year. he was killed in a rocket attack on his car as he tried to leave the embassy, which was unseen. three other americans also killed all with senior security positions. protesters swarmed the embassy reportedly over an amateur film made by an american that ridiculed islam's prove fit mohammed. protesters -- stormed the embassy and tore down the american flag. -- secretary of state clinton is concerned the protest might spread to other countries and u.s. embassies throughout the arab world are on high alert. >>> milpitas police released photos of three wanted in connection with weekend murder of a convenience

capitals this morning, a day after the death of chris stevens the u.s. ambassador to libya, fueled by a movie made by a california filmmaker. security is being beefed up at united states missions around the world. >> reporter: right now u.s. officials say the pentagon is moving two warships to the libyan coast they carry tomahawk missiles but do not have a specific mission but they give commanders flexibility to respond to any mission ordered by the president. also right now, new video in yemen, protesters have stormed the entrance of the united states embassy there and have burned an american flag. they have made it past the outer security wall inside to the main gate you see there. at this point it does not appear they've breached the embassy building. it was a violent protest in libya that killed u.s. ambassador chris stevens. last night the fraternity at uc berkeley of which he was a member held a candlelight vigil in his honor. we were able to talk with stevens' stepfather by phone. >> there's no one in the english-speaking world that is more sympathetic to the arab cause and
